Clallam County Youth Presentation

Thank you to everyone who attended our 2019 Annual Meeting: The State of Our Children, Youth, and Families in Clallam County.In keeping with Prevention Works! mission to “promote positive childhoods in Clallam County,” Dr. Allison Berry Unthank, MD, MDPH, County Health Officer, presented Clallam County Health Assessment Data, highlighting areas of concern and positive responses already underway in Clallam County.  The full powerpoint, complete with graphs, maps, and bibliography, is attached.  The presentation includes information on infant mortality, substance abuse, and youth mental health/ACES.

Appointed as the Clallam County Health Officer on September 4th, 2018, Dr. Unthank graduated from Johns Hopkins University, where she earned her medical doctorate and a masters in public health in epidemiology and biostatics. Dr. Unthank completed a residence in family medicine at the University of Washington and has been working as a family physician at the Jamestown Family Health Center in Sequim in addition to her duties as County Health Officer.

Prior to taking the health department job, Dr Unthank lead the addiction medicine department at Jamestown Family Health Center. She also serves on the leadership of the Three County Coordinated Opiate Response Project (3CCORP). Throughout her career, she has been particularly interested in caring for the health of our most vulnerable, with a particular interest in women and children’s health, addiction medicine, and the health of those experiencing homelessness.  She was born in Seattle and raised in Tacoma, but most of her family now lives on the peninsula.
