UNDERSTANDING & HELPING
EMOTIONALLY DISTRESSED YOUTH and CHILDREN
Join us for a virtual training on August 11 where Dr. Lusk will discuss several important topics related to emotionally distressed youth including:
Types and causes of emotional distress
What happens in a child's brain during distress
How a child's physiological state impacts distress
How to build attunement and use positive discipline
From a young age, children love everything about animals. Here we have lots of ideas on creating art, playing games, and reading books about all types of animals! On "Wild Kratts," the brothers encourage their audience to become animal experts — keeping an eye out for animal life and observing it in a way that does not harm creatures or their habitats.
Create Family Traditions: Reading & Sharing Stories
The act of storytelling is a powerful learning tool for children — and it's fun! As long as there have been people, there have been stories. Stories teach, entertain, share new and diverse perspectives, connect us to others, and are a part of every culture.
The new resource for clinicians and caregivers provides guidance on trauma-informed care and the protective power of resilience. It details the ways that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), toxic stress and trauma can negatively impact brain development, and how that harm can be mitigated through healthy, positive relationships with caregivers and community support.
We welcome applications for youth development positions at any time. Resumes and applications will be kept on file. Positions are often Monday through Friday 2:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m.
All applicants must enjoy working with youth, be self starters, be able to lead a group and pass a background check. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with a resume. Please complete a job application and submit at the front desk.
